Here is a unique twist to a increasingly old tale of the artist versus the consumer. Instead of suing the people in the vid below or yanking it off Youtube, Chris Brown instead put up some ad content ads and a buy this song link. The end result was that the married couple got to keep their vid on Youtube with song intact and Chris Brown got a large paycheck from the increased sales from his song. More details here.

SO THIS IS A BIT CREEPY...
Apparently due to advances in 3D modeling and sculpting you can now have your dead love one's head on your bookshelf that would serve as a urn for his or her ashes. There is something damn creepy about that. But what a shocker to add into a film. Details and more found here.

KICKSTARTER

UPDATE: Well, it seems that the site is currently under a Beta test with no word when you or I can participate. But hopefully soon we'll find out sooner or later. Also all payments are sent to your Amazon payments account so at this time you must be a U.S. Citizen with a Amazon membership.
For those, like myself, searching for a way to fund your next project should check out Kickstarter; a site for those seeking funding. At this point it's free to sign up and you have 25 days or so to raise the funding with the amount that you seek. If that goal is not met no one donates money and you're back to square one.
Nothing is expected in return for the donations made, however some artists are giving away bonus items for certain donated dollar amounts. For example if someone donates fifty dollars or more on a someone's film project then the filmmaker would send that person a finished DVD of the film for free as a way to say thanks.
I haven't tried it yet, but may do so in the next few days to raise completion money for my short film/music vid project.
Go here for the full details.

WEEKEND READ: THE CROW 2037
Here is the Rob Zombie penned screenplay to a film that never came to be, THE CROW 2037.What makes this script so interesting, besides being the first script written by Zombie, it is how the story unfolds. It's such a fevered dream of wild imagery and set pieces that make you wonder how it would have been pulled off.
I almost wish that he had permission to do a graphic novel version of this or a animated feature just to see this script come alive.
The script can be found here.

HOUSE OF THE WOLFMAN
This trailer gives me such a thrill. I'm placing it on my must have/must see list. The weird thing is I knew someone about seven or more years back who was trying to get a wolfman movie made with Ron Chaney I wonder if this is the same project.

FOUR THINGS NEEDED TO CHANGE HORROR

Den of Geek lists four things that are needed to change to make the horror film better. Read it here and comment back here.
DICK TRACY VS GRUESOME
Over the weekend I watched the DICK TRACY marathon on TCM and DICK TRACY VS GRUESOME was easily the best of the bunch. The best part is that it stars Boris Karloff as the main bad guy, Gruesome. If you missed out don't worry here it is for you to see yourself:

WEEKEND READ: LETHAL WEAPON
If you have not had a chance to read the script to LETHAL WEAPON you are missing out on a great read. The whole damn thing screams pulp - it's even speaks the language. It is also a part of cinema history. Because of this script writers for a good decade or more begun to write in the same style. I still wish they did. Read the script here to see what the hell I am talking about.

Here is a cool Q&A with Christa Faust who wrote MONEY SHOT for the Hard Case Crime series. It sounds like a novel that I must have in my clutches.

TO BE YOUNG AGAIN...
Remember what it was like to be a kid and to think that anything was possible? To benefit from naivety and never have to suffer from self-doubt, and to go out there and make any movie or art project you wanted. That is what this blog reminds me of.
