So, if you are in the area be sure to stop by Salvage Video and rent Truly Dreadful Tales or buy the movie and many more great schlocky flicks from F&C Productions. We have to keep supporting indie horror movies and mom and pop video stores who help get indie films in front of pairs of eyes.

Truly Dreadful Tales now at Salvage Video
I just found out yesterday that a mom and pop video rental store in Livingston, Texas called Salvage Video is renting out a few of Joe Sherlock's movies which he donated. The cool thing is that one of the DVDs being rented out is Truly Dreadful Tales which features Crazed; the short film that I directed.

A LOOK AT HORROR SALE ART

Horrorsquad asks the valid question: why does horror sales art look like VHS cover art from the 90's? The lesson to be learned from the article is that if you are truly serious about making movies and selling them then for the love of Frankenstein do your research and hire a pro.

HAVE YOU READ A GOOD VOOK LATELY?
So there seems to be a new push for a video/book hybrid called a "Vook" which would be text with some multimedia video clips that would accompany the chapters that one would read. The full story can be found here. More here. So what's your opinion? Would you want your pulp in this format?

DISNEY BUYS MARVEL
As reported here and here Disney is buying Marvel with a dollar amount that could keep a small country alive for ten years.
What does the buyout mean? Nothing is set in stone, yet I would not be surprised to see a Disney and Marvel fighter game for PS3, THE INCREDIBLES who cross over with the FANTASTIC FOUR. A MARVEL TOONS hour in which Bugs and gang are dressed in familiar outfits and have to fight crime all done with CG of course.

HOUSE OF THE WOLFMAN
This trailer gives me such a thrill. I'm placing it on my must have/must see list. The weird thing is I knew someone about seven or more years back who was trying to get a wolfman movie made with Ron Chaney I wonder if this is the same project.

TO BE YOUNG AGAIN...
Remember what it was like to be a kid and to think that anything was possible? To benefit from naivety and never have to suffer from self-doubt, and to go out there and make any movie or art project you wanted. That is what this blog reminds me of.

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT: CHOPPING MALL

Originally CHOPPING MALL, directed by Jim Wynorski and produced by Roger Corman, was at one time called KILLBOTS. However the film had a hard time testing in certain markets. According to Wynorski himself it was during a test screening with Corman where a electrician, fixing a light bulb or fixture saw a glimpse of the film and said "why don't you call it Chopping Mall." Wynorski and Corman both thought it over and agreed that it would make a greater title than what they had and recalled all the film's prints to change them to CHOPPING MALL.
Right after the change of name took place the film sold more tickets and did well on video. The morale of the story is that no matter how good your film is or how many cool visuals you have in it, none of that will matter unless you have a title that will make someone want to see your film. Don't be afraid to be exploitative. Go out there and be damn sure your film has a kick-ass title!

RIP: DAVID CARRADINE
Just found out this morning that David Carradine hanged himself in a Bangkok hotel. I don't know what to say, really. A great actor has stepped on a rainbow and will forever be no more in the land of the living. He will be missed around here in the secret lair.
